Cherokee language lesson: Welcome to America

For all of us former non-native Americans who tell current non-native Americans, "You're in America, speak English":

Let's have a higher sense of humor about us and a higher sense of intelligent thinking within us.

Lyrics That Mean Nothing ~ We Were Gifted with Thought ~ I'll Be Holding On To You

Lyrics That Mean Nothing ~ We Were Gifted with Thought ~
I'll Be Holding On To You

Many of our target learning goals in school are declarative: I know that.......

But to me, that's like asking a baby how to walk without ever asking them to take that knowledge and use it to practice walking.

Knowledge is important but it is still the lowest level of thinking. We were gifted with thought. Creating what only we can with our thoughts and evaluating the results is the highest.

It's time to move our feet to a more introspective beat.

Test scores will go way up.

Seas of self-doubt will be parted.

And our children will be left standing on a mountaintop with their arms raised and smiles on their faces as the Sun rises to greet them with each new day as they grow into adulthood.

And then lower-level thinking that produces lower-loving living like terrorism and child abuse and maybe even the divorce rate will begin to diminish instead of what we're seeing now as they are increasing.

(@ 3 minutes into this song):

Lean with it

Rock with it

When we going to stop with it?

Lyrics that mean nothing

We were gifted with thought

Is it time to move our feet

To an introspective beat?

Twenty One Pilots Dallas Shooting Tribute Speech

Each of us CAN do something to make our world a better

place; as a singer, writer, teacher, parent, spouse, policeman,

 citizen, etc.

All we have to do is play whatever part we play as big as possible.

No hiding in the dark. Shining in the light that comes from

within us out to the rest of the world.

Making a Winter Count and Telling Your Tribe's Story

My first ever movie trailer for a published learning activity.

How cool will this be for students; coming into class and

watching a movie trailer of the upcoming
